Home of the Michigan Railroad History Museum, a 1905 Victorian-style railroad depot. During the early 1900’s when the railroads were at their peak, 42 passenger trains, 22 mail trains, and 78 freight trains would pass through Durand daily making it one of the busiest stations.

Established in 1928, the Flint Institute of Arts includes more than 6,500 works of art in their permanent collection, many of which are by renowned artists from the past and present. In addition to installations of the permanent collection, eight to ten special exhibitions are scheduled each year. The Flint Institute of Arts is the second largest art museum in Michigan.

A premier engineering school with a world renowned automotive archive - Kettering University is the site of the largest collection of automotive papers-the Scharchburg Archives. Richard P. Scharchburg was instrumental in the establishment of The Kettering/GMI Alumni Foundation Collection of Industrial History in 1974. When he died in 2000, the collection was renamed in his honor. Scharchburg dedicated his life's work to automotive history.

Explore the birth of General Motors and encounter what life was like for those who moved to Flint to work in the factories from the 1950s to the present. The museum’s newest history gallery, "Flint and the American Dream," takes visitors on a fascinating journey through Flint in the 20th century. The gallery is packed with over 600 artifacts and photographs, including rare antique automobiles, colorful neon signs, period clothing, household furnishings, commercial goods, and original film footage from each decade.
For the antique car buff, more vehicles await in the Pierson Automotive Gallery, which showcases the museum’s own unique collection, as well as vehicles from private collections, which change each June.
The 19th Century Gallery showcases Flint’s early history. Visitors can see a Woodland Indian wigwam and exhibits on fur trading, pioneer life, lumbering, and carriage making.
The Science Discovery Center features hands-on exhibits, discovery boxes, and exciting demonstrations. The Hometown Gallery offers hands-on history experiences.
Snacks and soft drinks are available in the Halfway Cafe. The museum store offers a fine selection of gift items and Michigan memorabilia. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

This 55,000 square foot museum, located on the Chrysler LLC campus, houses more than 65 production and concept vehicles showcasing the corporation's American heritage. Vehicles are interspersed with interactive displays and exhibits illustrating the automaker's impact on American culture and the industry through design and engineering.

The Whaley Historical House Museum was home to the Whaley family from 1885 to 1925. This restored Queen Anne home tells the story of the Whaley family and their contributions to Flint and its community during the Victorian period. Tours available.
